Beth is a mother of seven: four human and three fur babies. As a single mom, Beth’s mother was the role model of a mother who was supremely focused on raising her two children. While family dinners were a mandatory event, they were the highlight of the day. The table was always filled with laughter and love, and Beth continues many of the same traditions her mom instilled in her children—including nightly family dinners. As the oldest child of divorced parents, Beth picked up both a camera and pen when she was 14, using writing and photography to express her bottled up fears and emotions. A compilation of her life’s written works and a tasting of her photography, this book was borne out of a deep desire to stay connected with her growing daughter while helping her to deal with some of life’s ugliness and similar experiences— through writing. Together, they hope to inspire and assure other females who have faced difficult life experiences, and to know that when the darkness feels overwhelming, they are not alone. You all too, can come through difficult situations as a stronger, smarter, and more resilient woman.
Grace, daughter of divorced parents, has grown up with art and writing as an integral part of her life. She is an older sibling of three younger brothers. While her grandmother taught her what the painting world was like, her mother taught her about poetry and photography. Since Grace can remember, she has used both poetry and photography as ways to express her feelings. She views the creation of this book with her mom as a way to connect both their coming of age similarities and differences. Grace has enjoyed the strengthened mother-daughter relationship this experience has conceived.
